Even though it was clear the sun had risen, the storm clouds still darkened the sky. The fierce wind and rain battered the small boat while the waves the storm churned up lashed over the deck and tossed it around. Still, the ship was sturdy enough to take the beating the storm was throwing at it.
Everyone was safely inside. Yerth Had initially wanted to tie himself to the ship's wheel, but Kani had talked him out of it. With a storm there was no way they could even think of steering even with him out there and even tied down there was a chance a wave would wash him overboard. As it was, the ship was completely at the mercy of the storm.
"Damn it," Yerth exclaimed as another wave rocked the boat. "I hate being in here when I should be out there steering the boat. What if we hit a rock?"
"You couldn't do anything even if you were out there," Kani reminded him. "This is one of the worst storms I've seen."

"Are we gonna be okay...?" Kaori whimpered, sitting in a corner clenching her pant legs.

"I'm sure we'll be fine," Kazuki replied. "The ship seems sturdy enough."

"At least no one's seasick!" Grega squeaked.

"Don't worry, this ship can take a lot more than this!" Yerth bragged.
Just then the ship shook violently and a loud crash along with she sound of broken timbers drowned out even the noise of the storm. Then it stopped moving except for occasional shutters fromt he force of the wind.
"Shit, we hit something," Yerth exclaimed. "I have to go l check even with this storm. I think we ran aground. I just hope it's actual land and not on a sandbar or reef."
Yerth made his way over to the door of the cabin and opened it. A gust of wind caught the door and blew it all the way open. The wind drove the rain through the doorway soaking Yerth. He stuck his head out and struggled to see through the heavy rain. He looked around then grabbed the door and struggled to close it. Kani came over to help and the two of them managed to pull the door shut again and secure it.
"We're on a beach someplace," Yerth said. "Don't know where, but it looks like we're stuck up against some rocks. We should be ok until the storm passes. There's a chance a wave will carry us back out to see though, and I don't think we'd be sea worthy after being bashed up against those rocks. There's some trees for cover if you want to take your chances out in the storm though."

"Fine with me." Tari said, standing up and heading to the door. "I can't stand you people much longer."
"Tari, wait." Kaori pleaded. "We need to stay together..."
Tari looked back, staring at Kaori, then sighed. "Whatever." she said, then sat back down again.
Terka turned to Yerth. "If what you said is correct, we probably should find other shelter. We shouldn't risk being swept back out to sea."

"That's the smart thing do to, yeah, " Yerth said. "We might be ok, staying on board, but you can never underestimate the sea. Shame to leave the old girl behind though"
"I know how much this ship means to you Yerth," Kani said. "But we can't take the risk of staying on board."
"I say we get out on land too," Kazuki said. It might be tough with the wind and rain, but at least we won't have to worry about sinking anymore."

"Yay I found raincoats!" Grega said, lifting a cloak she found out of a nearby chest that was peaking out from under Yerth's cot.
"Those aren't raincoats, Grega." Terka said, looking toward Grega. " And you should ask Yerth before touching his belongings.
Grega turned to Yerth, grinning. "Pweeeese? For me and Miss Grumpypants?"

"Nah it's ok, we'll be needing those," Yerth said. "I keep 'em on board for any crew I have during fishing season. I'm not sure they'll do a heck of a lot against this storm, but they're better than nothing." Yerth walked over to the chest and took the rest of the cloaks out. "They might smell a bit like fish, but try not to mind it," he cautioned as he handed them out to everyone.

"Oh I get the red one!" Grega squealed, pointing to a particular one.
"Thank you." Kaori said, taking a cloak.
