"Well, the offer's good till I get out of here," Narges said.
Rurik stepped out onto the dock and took a deep breath. "Smell that Nalery? That's the smell of the law," he said.

“Yes sir, it is.” Nalery responded, following Rurik.

A woman wearing a Nocturnian military uniform walked up the dock flanked by two guards, who each were carrying solid clubs. "Do you intend to keep me waiting in this damn sun, Captain Mozrich?" she asked impatiently. "Get those prisoners of yours out here."
"Ah Warden Relarch," Rurik replied. "So nice to see you again."

The guards with the prisoners led them toward the prison to be intercepted by the prison guards.

The warden looked over the prisoners. "Pretty sorry collection you have here," she said. "Which one's the pirate?"
"That human over there," Rurik said, pointing out Narges. "Would you like to hear the story of how he was captured? A fascinating tale of action and suspense."
"No," the warden said flatly. She turned to her guards. "Make sure to break that one as soon as possible."
Narges gave her a smug look, as if to say bring it on. In return one of the guards thrust his club into Narges' gut. The pirate grunted in response. "That tickled," he said grimacing.
"Just get them out of here," the warden said. "Captain Mozrich, make sure to turn over any records to my staff. I've wasted enough time here." she turned and headed back to her office.
"Get moving," one of the guards said, as he hurried the prisoners along.
As everyone left, Rurik turned to Nalery. "She never was the social type," he commented.

“What a shame, sir.” Nalery responded sarcastically.

Narges looked around as subtly as he could as the guards led the group of prisoners through the gate in the massive stone walls surrounding the island. Inside was a large field full of various crops. People, presumably inmates, were tending to them. The path they were on led to a large building, probably a processing center.
"The two of us go way back," Rurik explained to Nalery. "She was assigned to the same training unit as me when I first joined the military."

“More interesting every time I hear that story, sir.” Nalery snarked. “Should we have a crewman deliver the records now?”

"I'll do it myself," Rurik said.
