Rurik's snakes recoiled from the flames, burnt from their attempt to coil around the inmate. Rurik recalled them as his leap fell short of his target. He quickly spun around and several cobras emerged from his sleeves, spitting venom at the inmate before being recalled immediately as Rurik again lept at the inmate.

The magical inmate threw up a shield made of flames before blocking the venom. She then produced a sword made of flames as well.
Nalery held up her staff, charging up her elemental magic. “Third Gate: Soaring Torrent!” she invoked. Obeying her command was a large blue circle on the ground that emerged from the lower tip of her bladed staff. The circe produced several large bubbles that rose up, eventually to the inmate's altitude.

A snake emerged from Rurik's left sleeve and lunged towards the crumbling edge of the hole in the roof and latched on. Rurik used it to swing over towards Nalery. Flying past her, he launched a swinging kick at a figure that had been sneaking up behind his first officer, sending it flying as the snake withdrew back into his sleeve. Another snake emerged from his right sleeve, wrapping itself around another figure that was also attempting to ambush Nalery.
Narges looked around at the panicking guards. Clearly something had happened, as an alarm had sounded and there was an explosion on the top floor of the nearby building. Seeing the perfect opportunity, he charged the nearest guard and knocked him into the wall with a shoulder tackle. "Let's take them down!" he shouted, hoping to rally his fellow prisoners.

As Nalery saw the mage charging toward Rurik, she magically commanded the bubble on the other side of Rurik to come up, emitting a powerful blast of water. The water blast knocked the mage back, dissipating her flame weapons before she turned her attention to Nalery. Before she could react further, another bubble blasted water at her from behind.
“Let's gather some of the inmates!” the other talkative prisoner said as she threw a damaging punch to another guard's head.

"Nice work, Nalery," Rurik said as another snake emerged from his sleeve and coiled around the inmate he had initially kicked. "You deal with her, while I see there's a clear way out."
Narges took a club off the guard he had just knocked down. "Let's get enough people to take the ship!" he shouted. "I can sail us out!"

Nalery glanced at Rurik before turning her attention to the mage inmate, who was charging a large, dense fireball in front of her. Nalery immediately recalled the damage done to the whole building, and realized then that it must have been as a result of this inmate's attack. She spawned three more bubbles, merging them into a whirlwinding swirl of a water shield. The mage cast the fireball out as Nalery reacted, enlarging the water shield just as the fireball collided with it, causing a large cloud of steam. A few seconds later, the steam settled back into water, dropping down to re-merge into the large, blue circle. Nalery looked up at Rurik, smiling. “I can take her!” she yelled, causing the mage to scowl.
The other prisoner approached Narges, offering a handshake. “Nash.” she said.

"You'd better, because I'm ordering you not to lose," Rurik said. With that he headed deeper into the building leaving behind his two snakes coiled around the two inmates. He headed down the stairs and saw a guard trying to hold off several inmates on his own. Behind the guard, strangely enough was another inmate, hiding in a door, his hands over his ears. He was chanting something softly to himself. Rurik summoned some snakes which promptly assisted the surprised guard.
Narges accepted the handshake.
"Nice to meetcha," a voice said from above. Narges looked up and saw a strange woman, dressed neither as a guard or inmate floating above them. "Welcome! You must be new guests. Don't worry, it's not usually this noisy here."

The mage held out her arms to each side, looking angrily down at Nalery. As the Nocturnian sailor looked up in confusion, the stance of her opponent was confusing. “This doesn't look like a fire-elemental stance. At least none that I've ever seen.” she thought.
Nash glanced up before running off into a random hall of the prison.

"You there. What's the situation?" Rurik asked the guard as his snakes subdued the prisoners.
"The emergency release triggered somehow and the most of the prisoners have escaped," the guard reported. "We've lost control of much of the prison. I was on my way to find the warden."
"Unfortunately, a prisoner beat you to that," Rurik said. He then looked at the prisoner still hiding behind a door. "What's his deal?"
"He's usually harmless," the guard said. "Says he's got another personality that kills people though."
"Who are you?" Narges asked.
"I'm Talair," the mysterious woman said. "Nice to meet you, Narges."

A few moments passed until Nalery noticed the clouds in the sky begin to swirl. “No way...” she thought. “She's a multi-elemental!”
The clouds started descending towards the island below.
