What if Kazuki met Yuriis before they set sail?
Kazuki gazed out in the the harber. There were ships from around the world there, mostly merchant ships. He turned and headed towards the town square. He then noticed a large armored carriage heading to the harbor. It was covered in spikes and the doors were chained shut. There were Nocturnian soldiers riding on top. "Nocturnians? Wonder what they're doing here," Kazuki thought. "Maybe they've got something dangerous in there?"
He shrugged it off, and continued on his way. He walked into the town square and looked around. There were lots of people there. He noticed a bulletin board then headed over. He was going to be in town until he found another bodyguard job, and that wouldn't happen unless he was advertising his services. Kazuki walked over, pulling his poster out of his pocket. Then he noticed there were a lot of bodyguard posters already up. Unlike his plain, handwritten poster, the ones up already were flashy and looked like they were professionally printed. He sighed and hung up his poster in the middle of the rest. "Looks like I won't be getting a job here," he thought. His stomach growled. "Guess I'll go get something to eat," he thought. "Excuse me," Kazuki said to someone nearby who looked like a local, "Where can I get some good food here?"
"Well, there's a pub over there, traveler," the local replied. "Best food in town I'd say."
"Thanks," Kazuki said. He headed off towards the pub. He got there and looked around. The bartender was cleaning glasses, and there was a waitress sitting down looking bored. A bunch of people were drinking at the bar, and some people playing a card game at a table in the back corner. Other than that there were no other customers. He headed over to an empty table near the door. "I'll take whatever you've got hot," he said, not fussy about what he was going to eat.
"Coming up," the waitress replied.
Kazuki sat down and waited for his food.
The waitress grabbed a bowl, went over to the stove and scooped out some beef stew from a pot. She then brought it over to Kazuki.
"Here you go, stew. It's the house special." She placed the bowl on the table and handed Kazuki a spoon.
"Thanks," he said, as he started to eat.
