Paraki's Story Chapter 2
Klinsy stood in the middle of the dimly lit room, right beside a large, fancy chair. Her bubblegum-pink hair was shoulder-length with a large, blue flower on the right side of her hairdo. She wore a pink vest over a lime green shirt with a pink skirt. Her left arm covered with a long lime green glove. Her belly was enlarged, suggesting that she was very far into her pregnancy.
“It's been eight years...” Klinsy said to the woman. “She hasn't shown any kind of emotion whatsoever since then. She just stays in our basement without any willingness to go outside. She refuses to find a man of her own, or even associate with
anyone... she's really worrying me.”
In the mid-sized room was multiple bookcases, and seemed to be a study room. A petite woman, who was sat in the large chair, had light brown hair and wore a dark red suit. “So you're saying... you want us to help with her?” the woman replied. “...look, you're very important to me. Far more important since your mother died. But this girl... she's not part of our family. And certainly not part of the Harsim family...”
“I know, but... isn't there anything you can do?" Klinsy asked. “Vadrin and I can't keep her with the income he gets. And we've started a family of our own on top of that. Plus, Vad gets easily upset and angry with Paraki. She's an old boyfriend's sister after all...”
The woman sighed. “To be honest, she's better off there than in the Harsim estate.” she said. “Buuut... if you promise me that you'll still take responsibility for her, I'll talk to Akeris about it.”
Klinsy smiled in relief. “Thanks, Aunt Tora.”
“I can't promise anything, though.” Tora stated. “Don't say anything yet.”
Klinsy nodded.
Days later, at the Praska house, Akeris knocked at the front door. He just came from a meeting at the castle with the overlord, wearing red and white robes with a fancy hat.
The door opened, as a light purple pajama-wearing Klinsy peered out to Akeris. “Oh, Uncle Akeris! Vad's at work... what brings you here?” she asked, opening the door for her guest.
“And you're sleeping in...?” Akeris said, walking in. “I'm here for the girl.”
“Oh... you mean Paraki?” Klinsy asked. “She's in her room, let me go get her. Have a seat, I'll be right back.” she said.
“Your baby is due any day now, you should take it easy.” Akeris commented.
“Don't worry about it, I'm used to running in and out all the time.” Klinsy answered, then walked out of the front door.
“Her room isn't in the building?” Akeris thought to himself, sitting down on the nearest chair.
A few minutes later, Klinsy walked back in the front door, pulling Paraki in. Akeris turned and stood up as his step niece presented Paraki, who had on a plain white button-up shirt which was fully buttoned, but was slightly transparent here and there from grease and dirt, which made it apparent that she had no bra on. She had a pair of dusty black trousers with orange and yellow stains, and an old pair of shoes that were coming apart at the sole. She was wearing glasses, and had a small cut on her neck below her right jawbone, and she smelled strongly of chemicals.
“...this is Paraki?” Akeris asked, surprised.
Klinsy nodded.
“Why she isn't a girl at all. She's a grown woman! And you're keeping her-”
“In our basement.” Klinsy responded. “Or... trying to, at least.”
Akeris looked at Klinsy, raising an eyebrow.
“Who is this man?” Paraki spoke up, looking at Klinsy. “Are you not going to introduce him to me?”
“Oh, this is Akeris, my uncle I told you about.” Klinsy answered.
“Lieutenant Akeris Harsim of the royal military.” he said, introducing himself.. “I've heard a lot about you.”
A couple seconds of silence, with them expecting Paraki to introduce herself followed with Klinsy speaking up, “Go on. Introduce yourself, Paraki.”
“Is it necessary?” Paraki asked. “He has claimed that he has 'heard a lot' about me. I was under the assumption that it included my identity as well.”
“Well yeah, but...”
“It's okay, let's just get her stuff on the cart and we'll be out of here.” Akeris said.
Later that night, Paraki walked with Akeris, who was walking beside a horse-drawn cart with a sheet tied over the bed. Paraki's belongings were being towed to the Harsim Estate. “Look... Paraki. I know you're pretty content living with your uh... 'hobbies', but it's not that healthy...”
“Why is my health any concern to you?” Paraki asked, pushing up her glasses with her middle finger.
“Be lucky it is at all.” Akeris said. “And that large reptilian pet of yours. Are you planning to keep it until it grows up?”
“I must.” Paraki responded. “I am artificially guiding its growth stages.”
“There isn't many pets I allow at the estate.” Akeris pointed out.
Paraki looked over at Akeris. “He will not be a 'pet' for long.”
As the two became silent, they walked for a while. Upon reaching the Harsim estate, they spotted a girl in a robe similar to Akeris' attire, but with a styled dress attached She had short, olive green hair tied in one pigtail in the back. She appeared to be waiting for Akeris to return.
“Ah, there's Kalligra now.” Akeris said as the girl approached them.
“Mister Harsim! You're back!” Kalligra said as she got up to the two. “Oh, who's this?”
“This is Paraki. She'll be staying at the Harsim estate from now on.” Akeris explained.
“Paraki, huh?” the girl said. “You don't see many people named after spiders. It's cute though!”
“Is that status somehow appealing to you?” Paraki asked, looking over at the girl.
“Uh... I g... I guess...” Kalligra stuttered, walking up to Akeris.
Akeris sighed. “Paraki, maybe we should just take you to meet your new roommate.”
“...roommate?” Paraki wondered.
“Oh, I'll take her!” Kalligra offered, then looked back at Paraki. “If that's okay with you.”
“It is acceptable.” Paraki answered.
“Take her to Alkin's room.” Akeris ordered. “I'll make sure that her belongings are put there as well.”
“Alright then.” she said, then turned again to Paraki. “Let's go.” Kalligra -then lead Paraki through the courtyard to the mansion entrance as Akeris walked away with the cart full of Paraki's stuff.
Paraki looked over at her escort, who looked back, smiling. She then looked back toward the mansion.
“Sooo uh... how do you know Akeris?” Kalligra asked.
“He is the husband of a relative of a friend.” Paraki said as the two walked up to the door.
Kalligra opened the door. “Oh, watch your step, the floor is still being cleaned, and it might be a little wet.”
“Acknowledged.” Paraki responded as she walked in. She then looked around at the decorated interior. She spotted a man in a red formal suit with cold black hair walk down the stairs straight ahead. The man walked up to them.
“Oh Lamies! What's up?” Kalligra asked.
“Can uh... can we speak in private?” the man asked, then looked at Paraki.
“Oh sure.” she answered, then looked at Paraki. “Sorry, but this might be important. Can you wait here for a few minutes...?”
“I can.” Paraki said.
“Okay then. Don't go too far.” Kalligra said, then walked off with the man in red.
Paraki continued looking around. She spotted another staircase under the main staircase, this one going down to a basement floor. She walked toward it, then down the stairs, looking around. The basement floor was just as fancily decorated and well-lit as the ground floor, with three doors on each side of the hall before the right turn at the end. The middle left door was open. Paraki spotted someone emerge from it as she walked over from the stairs. The man had a white tee-shirt on and light blue trousers covered in stains of dirt with brown boots. He looked aged into his mid-to-late-30s and his hair was short and light orange mixed with gray. He was carrying a mop with him and a blue towel draped over his shoulder, appearing to be a janitor. His attention immediately drew to Paraki.
“Now who are you? I've never seen you around here” the man asked in interest, approaching her.
“Paraki Azeth. I am the newest inhabitant of this premises.” she explained, adjusting her glasses. “And you are...?”
“I work here.” the man said as he looked Paraki over. “Cleaner.”
Paraki then turned away uninterested, continuing to look around. She walked over to a door at the end of the hallway. She opened the door, peering in to a room that was relatively empty, save for three couches arranged around a wooden table. Tired, Paraki decided to rest as she walked in, sitting down on the right end of the closest couch, sighing. She sat there silently for almost five minutes before she heard the cleaner man coming, though she gave it no mind.
“So what d'ya think about the place so far?” the man asked, leaning against the doorway.
“I have not explored the mansion sufficiently enough to form an opinion.” Paraki answered. “I had just arrived today.”
“That what you were doing?” he asked.
“Yes.” she answered.
“Just resting up then?”
“I require staminal replenishment before continuing my exploration of this floor.” Paraki said. as she rested.
“Mind if I come in and have a seat?”
“I do not.”
The man walked in, then locked the door, walking over to Paraki, sitting down beside of her. He turned to her. “So did old man Harsim invite you?” he said, looking Paraki over.
“Yes.” she responded.
The man looked closer at Paraki's eyes as they seemed not to respond to him looking at her. He reached his hand over in front of her eyes, waving. She continued staring at nothing in particular without a flinch.
“You okay...?” the man asked, curious of Paraki's seemingly unnatural detachment.
“My current state of health is acceptable.”
The man raised an eyebrow, then reached his left index finger out, poking her face. Paraki gave no response. The man then nervously lowered his hand down to her chest. He cautiously grabbed her right breast, cupping it with his hand, with no reaction from her. After a few seconds, he slowly started groping it. When it was apparent that she had no intention of resisting, he turned to her as he shamelessly started to grope both of her breasts. “You seem like a pretty lonely girl.” he said as he tried to feel her up.
“I do not desire social interaction.” she answered with unnatural indifference to the stranger's advances as he continued to grope her chest.
The man continued groping and fondling Paraki's breasts for several minutes with no reaction from her. As he started getting more aroused, he moved closer to her, scooting toward her; his hands still glued to her breasts. He groped Paraki's breasts more as she still neglected to react. After another minute or so, the man scooted closer, then started grinding his crotch against hers.
A reaction finally came out of Paraki as she decide that she is finished with her rest. She tried raising up before the man let go of her left breast, grabbing her arm to hold her down as he was still groping her right breast and dry humping her. She then reached up to his chest, putting her index and middle fingers to it, piercing his chest with them. “GAH! What the fu-” the man yelled as most of his muscles simultaneously gave out, falling backward onto the floor. He started groaning in pain as his hands reached for his neck.
Paraki then silently stood up, then pushed her glasses up as she walked away. The man's veins blackened, going up his swelling neck before Paraki shut the door behind her. The man's screams echoed through the hallway as Paraki started back up the stairs. She then looked around as she spotted Kalligra standing on the balcony, still talking with the man in red. She started walking toward the next flight of stairs, then walked up as Kalligra turned, noticing her. “Ah there you are!”
Paraki continued walking up the stairs, then got to the top as she turned, then walked toward Kalligra.
“What was that noise...?” Kalligra asked, acknowledging a faint sound that faded from the basement that sounded like a person screaming.
“Well I gotta go.” the man said.
“I do not hear anything.” Paraki answered as the man was talking.
The man then started walking down the hall, then entered another room. “See ya later, Kal.”
“Anyway, your room is right over here.” Kalligra said, opening the door. The sound of rain pouring down outside flew through the door, as at the end of the hall, there was an open window.
Paraki followed, continuing to look around. “So the individual who is to become my roommate...”
“Oh, she should be in the room right now!”
“I see.”
The two entered another hallway, walking across it, then walked up a flight of stairs. “I think you'll like her.” Kalligra said as they walked down the hallway on the third floor. “She's a lot of fun.”
They then walked up to the third doorway on the right and stopped. “This is it.” Kalligra informed, opening the door.
“Aaahhh!” a female voice inside the room yelped. “Knock please!”
Kalligra quickly pulled the door closed. “S-sorry...” she said, then knocked.
“Cooome iiiiin!” the girl said, prompting Kalligra to open the door. The first visible thing was the long dresser directly in front of the door, against the left wall. The dresser had stacks of various clothes on it. Upon further inspection, the rest of the room had just one bed, right in the middle of the room, a queen-sized bed made up for two people, with one side appeared to be unslept on. There was also a few articles of clothing scattered across the floor. The somewhat large window's right side was flung open.
“Hope I wasn't bothering you.” Kalligra said.
The girl was sitting upright on the middle of the bed, looking toward Kalligra. She was light-skinned and had short, dark green hair. She was wearing a pink hooded sweater and black jeans with beige worn socks. “Bothering me!? I could've been prancing around here naked!” the girl complained, then noticed Paraki behind Kalligra. “...who is this?”
Kalligra look at Paraki. “Go ahead, introduce yourself.”
Paraki stepped forward, again pushing her glasses up. “Paraki Azeth. I am... apparently your new roommate.”
“Pleased to meet you, Paraki!” the other girl said. “My name is Karleya Mareen.”
Kalligra smiled. “If you two are good for now, I'll be downstairs. Karleya knows where I'll be.”
“Yes, thank you.” Paraki said before Kalligra left, shutting the door behind her.
“So! Paraki.” Karleya staid, sitting down on the bed. “That's a cute name.”
“...cute?” Paraki asked.
Karleya climbed off the bed to the window side, stretching as she turned to Paraki. “Yup! People having animal names is always cute. It really suits you.”
Paraki approached the bed. “I see. And your name means...”
“Catfish!” Karleya said cheerfully, then turned back to the window. “It's... actually Eignalian.”
“...okay.” Paraki answered, not sure how to respond to a normal conversation like this.
Karleya looked out the window with a confused look on her face. “Those guys... kinda look like soldiers.” she said, then motioned for her new roommate. “Here, come look.”
Paraki walked over, then looked out of the window. Through the rain still pouring down, she saw a group of four armored figures talking to a maid, who had a black umbrella over her head.
“They look like... guards?” Karleya wondered. “Wonder what they want...”
Suddenly, Paraki spotted the blue towel that cleaning man had. She immediately connected this with the incident in the basement. She snapped out of the initial shock, then backed away from the window.
“...what's wrong?” Karleya asked. “Do you know them?”
Just then, Paraki ran to the door, then quickly opened it, running out.
Not soon after, in the castle throne room, Akeris approached the throne. He knelt down to Overlord Shin Anstrum. “Lieutenant Harsim, I presume.” Shin said. “This is only the second time we've met.”
“Excuse the intrusion, Lord. I wish to personally report that a very dangerous woman is on the loose somewhere near the Harsim Estate.” he said.
“Oh...?” Shin asked.
“The woman was a new resident at the estate.” Akeris explained. “However, we recently caught the criminal named Erlusou Gebrah. Evidence suggests that the woman in question somehow found and subdued him. Before one of my subordinates could find her and explain the situation to her, she fled. We haven't been able to find her yet.”
As Akeris explained, Prince Noel peered out from behind a curtain in the back left of the throne room. “A woman, huh?” he thought to himself.
“I see.” Shin responded, scratching his chin. “And what is this woman's name?”
“Paraki Azeth, my lord.” Akeris said.
“Leave it to me.” the beautifully-decorated female knight standing beside Shin's throne suggested, bravely stepping forward.
“That won't be necessary, Head General Syntaipa.” Shin said. “This should be a job for
General Harsim and his royal mages.”
“As you wish.” Akeris said. “I shall go inform General Harsim immediately.”
As Akeris stood up and headed out, Noel backed from the curtain. “I gotta get to her before someone gets hurt...” he thought.
Running down an alley to keep from being seen, Paraki stopped, looking around as she started panting. Not used to much physical activity, her muscles were already starting to get sore. Her glasses were getting soaked from the rain; her vision was significantly impaired by it. After she caught her breath, she resumed running.
She ran down the brick sidewalk that was near a street which had a pier on the other side. At this point, the rain was getting more intense. Her run had slowed down as she got tired. She struggled to look forward, seeing a cloaked woman a few meters in front of her. She stopped, cautiously looking the cloaked woman over before the woman raised her hands. The next thing Paraki experienced was a powerful jolt of electricity flow through her whole body, causing her to instantly collapse; her glasses fell off her face.
The woman approached Paraki carefully. She looked down at the girl, still a good distance away. The woman then took a bead out of her pocket, crushing it as dust eminated from it, filling the air around her as if the rain wasn't even there. “This is Sasha Mekro. I found her.”
Before she realized, Sasha was surrounded by a strange looking flesh-toned branch-like structure. She tried to move away from it, but her feet was already bound. As branches of the thing moved up her robe, she looked over toward Paraki, noticing that they were coming from the girl's hands, as if they were mutated fingers. At this point, she could feel the overgrown fingers moving clear up her body, tightening up as they cut off blood circulation in her limbs. Sasha quickly fell to the ground after that before a jolt to her body from the pressure of the constrictions caused her heart to burst, killing her instantly.
Paraki then sat up, looking around. The rain eased up a little, but without her glasses, she could barely see. She managed to stand up, but the shock from that electric spell made her body ache.
A few seconds later, a few other mages appeared around Paraki. She looked around to them. She couldn't make out any of their features, but she noticed their cloaks, and how many there were. She counted eight. She wanted to run, but her weakened body combined with her still elongated fingers wrapped around the defeated mage prevented her from budging at all.
“What did you do to Sasha!?” one of the larger mages yelled. then raised his hand. “You... you freak!”
“Stop!” a voice in the distance said. In flew the prince, Noel Anstrum, landing near Paraki. He walked over to her and reached down, picking up her glasses. He then handed them to her as he smiled. “Don't worry, I won't hurt you. Here, these are yours.” he said, helping her put the glasses on.
“I... I am sorry...” Paraki cried, looking over at the mage.
Noel looked back at Sasha's corpse. He noticed at the end of Paraki's elongated fingertips, several organs were already removed from the corpse. Noel then looked back at Paraki. “...you did this?”
Paraki looked away, then nodded.
“I like that.”
Paraki looked back at the prince. “...huh?”
“You not only defeated one of the strongest mages of her squad, it seems that you have already began to dissect her...” Noel said, smiling. “I think that with skill like that, you would make an excellent surgeon.”
“I would...?” Paraki asked, shocked.
Noel nodded. “My father just gave them orders to bring you in for questioning. You didn't do anything wrong.” Noel explained, then looked over to Sasha's corpse once again. “And I saw what happened here. You were only defending yourself.”
Paraki looked around. First, down at the corpse. Then around to the surrounding mages, who were staring scornfully back at her.
Noel looked back down at her. “Please, come back to the castle. I promise, you won't be hurt.” he said, then motioned to the mages, who then left cautiously.
Paraki then raised her right hand, which returned to a normal shape, but still bloody from the kill. Noel took her hand and helped her up. “You feel weak. Let's get you in and get you something to eat.”
“O-okay...” Paraki whimpered, before Noel started walking with her back to the castle.
