Many of the students were chatting among themselves waiting for class to start. They knew they'd be tested on the latest magic spells they were taught. A few were going over the spells in their heads while their more confident classmates talked.
Just then Aurorea walked in and went to the teacher's desk. "Ok class," she said. "As you know, today we'll be testing you on your spell casting." She motioned to a platform next to the desk. "You'll each come up one at a time and cast a spell we covered last week. Now then any volunteers to go first?"

The first students to volunteer, Trinta and Miranda, stood up at the same time. "I will." they both said simultaneously. They then looked at each other with embarrassment.

"So eager," Aurorea commented. "Ok then, Trinta you go first, the Miranda you can go."

"Yes ma'am!" Trinta said, approaching the front as Miranda sat back down, watching.

"Ok Trinta," Aurorea said, "step on on the platform, and demonstrate your spell."

Trinta walked over to the side of the platform, reaching in his bag, then lifted up a watermelon-sized rock, rolling it on the platform. He then positioned himself on the platform in front of the rock, facing them, with his eyes closed. He put his wand outward. "I call this... the Rock Ballet".
Trinta waved his wand toward the rock, causing the rock to fragment into the air in front of him. He twirled his wand, making the fragments circle and jump around. Trinta then lifted the bag up and lowered the wand slightly, making the rock fragments fall gently into the bag. He then lowered his wand and turned to Aurorea.

"Not bad, but a little showy," Aurorea said. "Good work though." She marked a grade down on her grade sheet. "Ok then, next up was Miranda right?"

Trinta walked back to his seat as Miranda stepped forward with her wand in hand.

Suddenly the door burst open and a girl ran in.
"Wah!," the girl said, as she tripped and fell.
"Drandi," Aurorea said. "You're late, and you're disrupting the class. Go take your seat. We'll talk about this after class."
"Sorry..." Drandi said apologetically. She got up and walked over to her seat with her head down.
"Ok Miranda," Aurorea said, "please proceed."

Miranda nodded, walking up to the platform. she raised her wand. "I call this... the reverse umbrella."
Miranda twirled her wand upwards, then around in circles, drawing a water line in the air in a spiral pattern. She then lowered her wand under the hovering water, drawing a hadle as the spiral turned into a liquid umbrella canopy. She then grabbed the watery handle with her left hand and layed against her shoulder. She looked over at Aurorea. "...for when it rains pink polkadots."
